Quirky Roadside Attractions & Hidden Gems in America

MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MADNESS

Nancy and Zach posing with life-sized cardboard mariachi and folklórico cutouts inside a Mexican restaurant—Corona logos, luchador masks, and Nancy holding the chaos together while Zach mugs for the camera.

We’re the offbeat duo who decided that living in a converted school bus with ten pets while chasing America’s quirky roadside attractions was a perfectly reasonable life choice.

Navigating the Weird Side of American Travel

The stuff that actually works when you’re living on four wheels. We’re talking fuel-saving tricks, where to shower when you smell like a swamp creature, mobile internet that won’t make you want to throw your laptop out the window, and all the random gear that keeps us (mostly) functional on the road.

This is our “wish someone had told us this before we learned it the hard way” collection. No fancy theory, no Instagram-perfect nonsense – just the real-deal advice for when you’re three states from anywhere and your gray water tank is full. Again.

Giant rubber ducks, museums dedicated to salt and pepper shakers, the world’s largest whatever-the-heck-that-is – we’re basically professional weirdness hunters at this point. Some of these places we’ve already geeked out over, some are still taunting us from our ever-growing “we HAVE to see this” list.

This is where we dump all the gloriously bizarre stuff that made us slam on the brakes and go “WAIT, we’re stopping for THAT.” It’s part travel diary, part fever dream wishlist. If it made the cut here, it’s because it’s wonderfully, unapologetically weird – just like us.

Traveling with anxious animals is… a lot. We’ve got cats who think car rides are the apocalypse, and we’ve learned (through many, MANY mistakes) how to keep everyone calm-ish and happy-ish on the road.

This is where we share all the tricks that actually work – from finding pet-friendly spots that won’t stress everyone out, to figuring out which anxiety meds help without turning your furry crew into zombies. If you need your travel plans to bend around paws, whiskers, or the occasional pet meltdown, we’ve been there. And we’ve got notes.

Your Guide to Quirky Roadside Attractions & Converted Bus Living

Hey there! Welcome to Right At The Light – where hunting down quirky roadside attractions meets the reality of living in a converted school bus with way too many pets. We’re Nancy and Zach, and we’ve turned our obsession with America’s weirdest stuff into a full-time lifestyle.

What started as “let’s try bus life together” somehow became “let’s document every bizarre roadside attraction we can find while figuring out mobile hygiene and keeping ten animals happy on the road.” From quirky roadside attractions like the world’s largest ball of twine to converted bus life hacks that actually work – this is your command center for unconventional adventure.

Whether you’re planning your own quirky roadside attractions road trip, curious about converted bus living, need pet travel tips for anxious animals, or just want to know where America hides its weirdest stuff – you’re in the right place. We’ve traded conventional for extraordinary, and we’re documenting every beautiful, bizarre mile.
